She stood there, on the rock that seemed to over look the entire area. She just watched, calm, cool, and collected. She had a strange type of determination in her eyes, as if she knew that what she were doing was hopeless but for the sake of hope she was doing it. Her ears were pulled back, every muscle in her body taunt and ready to strike at any movement, or noise. It was dark, and so her eyes were dimmed. Her ears and nose the only thing to help her find what she was searching for, her brothers. She knew that it would never happen. Her breath became a rhythm, the sound like a beat in her ears. Each small disturbance was aware to her, even the smallest of animals scuttling across the forest floor below. Now came the wind, whistling through her ears like a strange new music. A scent, a scent of wolf on the wind. For an instant a flame of hope ignited in her and she opened her eyes. Meet by darkness and the still unfamiliar scent her hope was washed away like some sort of dream in a ocean of nightmares. She shifted her body, her once proud stance now seemingly weak and inferior. She slowly came down from the rock, her steps silent as she touched the ground again. She gazed into the forest, the male wolf was there. Somewhere. No more scent met her nose and she laid down, closing her eyes and pulling her ears back again. Her muscles were relaxed, but her ears were moving, catching each and every noise that the forest made as it seemed to breath. She would not be surprised, she was never surprised.

Maric came out of the woods, he had been watching her for quit some time now. After being introduced to the pack area by remmus, he ventured out on his own. Telling her he would return soon enough.
Looking at this female wolf, his eyes lit up, now he knew he belonged. Slowly walking over to her, he had no fear, only one feeling.
Love.

Her body still lay still, each and every muscle loose yet at the same time taunt and ready to spring at the slightest sound or vibration. Her ears twitched, the sound of an owl hooting in the distance echoing withing them. Something was wrong in the air, the taste of it was stale as if the air was to still. Yes, still as if the entire forest was waiting for something. But what?
Then she heard it, the soft pawsteps of some creature. She knew it was wolf and stood, her lips drawn almost into a snarl. This wolf had been into the packs territory, she didn't know if he was alone. She did not want a fight, and from first glance he didn't look to egar either. This was hers though, she was a loner and she would stay that way. This land, Falcons Ridge and Sunning Rocks was her home. The loners land, her only bit of memory left from a time long since gone. She faltered when she looked into his eyes, her snarl vanishing and a confuzed look comming into her face. What was it that she saw, what was it that she could hear in the rapid beating of his heart. This wolf . . . either something was wrong or something was different Different, no that was not the word. She wasn't snarling anymore, nor was she standing agressivly. She was still watching him, warry of his movements. Her voice broke the silence like a diamond cuts through glass, "Who are you, and why are you here?" It was a simple question, but for her it held a different meaning. I meant she no longer feared.

His voice broke, " Oh, oh.... ummm, well. I'm Maric, and i was just exploring, and......and......... Hello." He seemed intimidated, but was nothing of that such, just nervous. He sat down, waiting for her to even glance at him. Anything would do. "I'm sorry, if this your land, i just..... well, joined a pack here, and was looking around at the territory. I seem to have walked off too far." Maric said, with a challenging look in his eyes.

She looked away, her eyes heading towards the ground as he mentioned her owning the land. The simple thought of that was just to much for her. She spoke, her voice unbroken. "It's not my land . . . it's loners lands. I have no pack and I plan to keep it that way." She looked to him. Slightly warry of him sitting down. "If your in a pack you should get back to them. No point in being alone." She paused, "Trust me, its not that much fun." With a small sigh she turned, attempting to climb back up the rock. One jump failed, and she landed on her side with a dull thud. Getting up with a small wince of pain she lept again, this time making it and looked at him from the top of the rock. "Well . . . . aren't you going to go?" She was scared of him truth be told, his dark fur a taunting memory of her own past and just the look of it stung her. Maybe it gave him the wrong thought, the look of both fear and hate in her eyes as she looked at him. She could not help it though, never would be able to. At least she thought.

He looked at her with sympathy in his eyes. "My pack chased me off......." He looked to the ground and then back up to her. "Now i am with my sister, Remmus, who has said she would see what she could do for me to join her pack. Maybe she could slip a word in for you?" Maric looked at her, pleading......Please, please come.

She sighed. Her eyes wandering up to the stars, which she only saw as faint specks of light in the darkness. "I can't" she looked down at him, at his eyes. Emotion... she almost wanted to cry. Her eyes would rarely show the emotion he now held in his. Why care for her? Why care for a loner, for a half blind wolf that no one else wanted? The light of the moon flashed on her eyes, making them shimmer silver and letting him know that she was half blind. She couldn't see him... couldn't see the details. All she knew were his eyes, his shape, his scent, and his sound. Her ears pulled back and she growled as a bird landed amongst them. A red tailed hawk. She could tell by its scent, because it had the scent of her brother on it. "Look, Maric is it? I can not go because I was born with defects. All I would do would be bring your pack down. I can not hunt at night because durning the night I can not see." She stopped, why was she even talking? "Besides, wolves have a tendancy to chase me out of packs and since I was chased out of the last three I don't think I have a chance in this one." She lept from the rock. Looking at him and shivering slightly when her eyes met his. She feared that she held emotion in hers, and yet she could not look away. She knew that she held emotion. It was not love, or hate. It was not blank or fear. It was pain, a pain of memory. They almost seemed to water with tears but no, she was not that weak. She was a loner, so why couldn't she look away. Why could she not resist looking into his eyes? She had known love before, true. But this, this was something more than what she had with the other wolf. No. Love did not exist. She turned her eyes away, her pain vanishing the instant her eyes met the darkness and they soon were as dark as twilight that surrounded her.

He looked at her, shaking his head, no. "Please, I know you would have a home with us. They arent asking for hunters, or fighters, just a true pack........What was her name.....oh yes! Silence! She is the leader, and she is kind hearted from what Remmus tells me." Looking into her eyes, strait through her. Please, dont be afraid.

Faith pulled her ears back and let out a low growl. "Your mystic is no leader. She is a coward." Her eyes glinted with anger. Silence . . . the name had been in her dreams for the past few days now. She had even met the wolf. She did not like her, did not like the expression that was on her face. Did not like the pure hatred that surged through her. Even the forest shuddered at the mention of the wolfs name. "You don't know this Silence, you don't know what she is capable of." Faith turned, wincing slightly as she walked. Her paw was sore, she had landed on it the wrong way. She paused, not wanting to leave this wolf alone for some reason. "This is not my land, but it is my home. I can not leave here, more than you can not leave your pack." She shifted, laying down now. At least she wasn't uneasy around this wolf anymore. "I have not been around wolves much, and I doubt I would last around them. Even if they were nice to me. I have fears . . ." she stopped short, looking up at him. "You wouldn't understand the life of a loner, you wouldn't know what it is like not to be loved, not to be cared about. To just be forgotten. To only be a stale scent in the wind. I don't even have a name anymore, my memory died with my birth pack and only lives in my brother. Even my pack hated me, even when I was just a pup I was a loner." She looked away, "Why am I bothering to tell you this? Just leave, just leave and forget." She was almost crying, the tears in her eyes. Which was why she looked away. How she wanted a pack, a life, a love. No, she could not have one. Fate had decided against it. Silence knew that, and so did she. Faith was no mystic, but she knew things. The trees knew things.

Maric sat down, uncomfortablely. "I may not know Silence, but i do know what its like to be a loner. When myself and my sister were young our mother died, shortly after, our father left us. For many moons, i watched over remmus, untill i had to join a pack. Or else........ or else she would die. I left her, i do not regret it. Now she is a strong fighter. But, do not judge me for who you think i am, because you do not know me." he stared at her, sympothy and sorrow, "I am sorry, but you must not be alone like that. I will bring you some food. Wait here." With tht he ran off inot the woods.

She watched him vanish, her mind blank and her ears throbing with the echo of her heartbeat. She sighed. Looking towards the faint and distant lights of the human town she thought of how easy it would be to leave. To just disappear into the night without him knowing. He didn't even know her name, and yet he was hunting for her. She perked her ears, the sound of small steps echoing in them. Rabbit? No, not this late at night. Probally a mouse or fox. Fox. The word rang in her mind. But why? Then the scent, a male fox no doubt, fear was plastered on the scent and if it was one thing she knew, it was that a fearful fox was stupid. Its yellow eyes were the only thing she saw as she backed into the rocks. Not fear in it anymore, but anger. She crouched. Ready to leap should the fox try anything. Then it spoke, its word clear to her but unknown to most. "Wolf. Splendid. Last thing I needed to finish this night." Faith pulled her ears back, speaking to the foxes supprise in his launage. "Fox, why do you come so close to an foe such as myself?"

Maric smelt out a small rabbit, soon enough it wa in his jaws, and he was carrying it back to her. so enthrawled in her beauty. The site of the fox almost made him drop the rabbit. He hurried up to where she was, setting the rabbit down. How to catch a fox that is not afraid of you? He wasnt quite sure. He went down to a hunting position.

Faith turned to Maric, opening a window for the fox, who though still in shock of a wolf being able to talk to him lept to attack. Before Maric could move, before the fox could get to her she had turned and lashed out. Her claws hitting the fox on his side. She spoke lowly, so that it would sound like a growl to Maric, "Never, ever, attack me." She glared at the fox as it rose, sliding away into the darkness.
"Maric, don't bother to attack something that doesn't attack you. It was just a fox." She looked into the forest, the fear scent of the fox still pungent in the air. "He fears me now, he won't return." She frowned slightly, "and to think, I thought it just wanted to talk."

Maric let out a sigh, that soon turned into a laugh. "Your not as bad as you think you are you know?" He shoved the rabbit to her paws, "It was all i could find, sorry. Now about my pack, i have some questions." He let her eat.

She looked at the rabbit, not touching it. It was her custom to eat only what you caught, and if this wolf thought she would eat something she did not catch he was sadly mistaken, "You caught it, you eat it." She paused shifting slighty, her shoulder hurting a tad because of the odd angle that she had hit the fox at. "What do you mean by questions about your pack? How should I know anything?"
The slight pain of hunger came over her, and the rabbit looked better than before but it was not her ways to eat something she had not killed herself. Her ears were perked up now, listening to the faint sounds around her. Anything large enough to fill her up and she would attempt to catch it, attempt being the key word.
